New News! Facekinis?!
In Qingdao (a beautiful beach city), China, a new trend of swimwear has been spotted. Apparently not appreciated by me, but many Chinese women chose this way to protect heir skin from the UV rays at the beach while enjoying what the summer can offer worry-free.
People call these masks “facekinis,” such a new thing this summer, but so far still within the boarder of China, where pale skin represents beauty and wealth. Tanned skin, on the other hand, represent labor work and poverty. From the photos, you can also see many people pair their facekinis with a long-sleeved shirt or swimsuit to ensure maximum protection in the water.
The mask doesn’t really flattering one’s look, leaving only the wearer’s eyes, nose and mouse exposed, so much so like what the robbers in the movies look like. However, the power of pursuing beauty is much stronger than temporary fanny scene. I guess. Also there are many people do the same thing, so no big deal.
A lot of people bought their facekinis online, these only cost between $2.40 to $4, with multiple designs & color, as well as sizes.

Liz Hurley just finished her photoshoot for her new 2013 swimwear collection & beach collection. Close to 50, she still looks amazing, much younger than the women at her age. You can see the grace, the maturity, the elegance as well as the confidence.
Her body looks stunning, you can’t tell the mark of the time in it. She posed with her boobs without bra in a turquoise kaftan embellished with silver sequins (which is definitely a trend for next year, we will talk about it later posts)

While I was at the Phuket for holiday, went to the beach every day. Low season, the water was quite rough. When I was jumping with the wave, there was a common scene (including all the female friends there), the bikini tops and briefs sometimes were flipped by the strong water, and your private part probably got a big chance to be exposed! Luckily there were not so many people around and we are not celebrities to attract the unnecessary shots! However, this made me think again – maybe bikini is never suitable for the water, literally.
I changed to the one-piece swimsuit and all problem solved!
Like a lot of women changed their bikini to one piece due to 1) bikini is not flattering of the body 2) one piece made an amazing come back this year 3) one piece has more ways to play with these day with the outstanding design

The well known swimwear brand’s full-body LZR Racer swimming outfit attracted too much of controversy during the 2008 Beijing Olympics for giving the wearers an unfair competitive advantage. After writing about the Stephanie Rice’s incidence, I could not help writing a bit about Speedo.
A lot of people mistaken that Speedo as American brand, actually Speedo was born on famous Bondi Beach, Australia in 1928. Over the years, Speedo has became the world’s top-selling swimwear brand. Swimwear supermodel Kate Upton has just transformed into a high-fashion clothes horse in the July issue of Vogue. See the photo below. Comparing to her image in my mind, I could not even recognize her from here… very vaguely I can relate to her eyes and nose. With the fully wrapped by Michael Kors and Altuzzura clothes & heavy make up if not computer touch up (Are there any fashion photos for supermodels without Photoshop?) , I can even say this is not Kate Upton. But it is.

Kate Upton has always almost portrayed naked in all her photos (apart from attending some events or shows). She is Best known for her curvy bikini body and largely self-created Internet phenomenon, she really grabbed the fame by leveraging the powers of social media (all internet marketers take note here) – she has about 430,00 Twitter followers, the notorious Cat Daddy YouTube video quickly went viral (anybody worries about the case study of producing a viral video, study this).
Although Victoria’s Secret didn’t appreciate Kate’s figure, commenting as ’too obvious’ a face & Page 3 girl that everyone can buy with money - Vogue’s apparently think differently – bet Miss Upton might be very competitive world of high-fashion, at least for the PR value.
Kate Upton said in an interview: ‘People told me I couldn’t be fashion, that I’m just an old-fashioned body girl, only good for swimwear. But I knew that I could bring back the supermodel. What can I say? I’m relatable.’
Fashion designer Michael Kors agrees with Kate, he told the press that Today it’s not enough to have beauty. You have to have personality, be smart and love fashion, or else you’ll disappear quickly.
Some fan argues that Kate being famous and can do all these only thanks to her rich uncle and well connected family. but what we can do in this world? And Miss Upton is up for it, she did something that maybe a lot of us only talk about but didn’t do or even give it a go.

Oh well, one of the biggest news on the internet for the sports industry/ fashion industry is the story of Olympics swimming Gold medalist Stephanie Rice (Australia) posted a Twitter photo picturing herself wearing a swimsuit given to her as a birthday present “Thank you to the Gorgeous @elliegonsalves for my birthday @veveswimwear bikini,” which caused all the controversy followed after.
The followers of her on Twitter threw out some very negative comments, something like Stephanie Rice brought disgrace to Australian swim team and she should focus on the upcoming Olympics game, etc. etc. Some also worried that her photo might harm Speedo’s sponsorship for her, but you know what? she doesn’t have relationship with Speedo anymore. Some also think the cross band under the chest implicate the element of ‘slave’ and ‘racist’ (see how Adidas withdrew their controversial ’slave’ sneakers) , which probably think too far? I don’t think Stephanie Rice would have ever thought of it. She is just a simple swimming girl and want some public attention.
It is not the first time Stephanie Rice has posted a revealing self-portrait on social media – in 2008 she posted her photo wearing police officer’s costume to Facebook. Another photo she posted on Twitter following breakup with Wallaby player Quade Cooper also raised some eyebrows. Oh well, I guess that’s her style. This won’t be the last time either.
She is going to London for the 2012 Olympic in a few days, and hopefully she will focus more on defending her championship now instead of posting bikini photos. But overall, to be in a fair position, the swimsuit itself doesn’t look bad at all.

Karl Lagerfeld is talented and for the result after 12 months planning, her was joyful. He described the show as “Versailles in a Socialist France”, which said it all. With the background of rocks and waves, the sound, the wonderful clothes, what other senses haven’t been satisfied?
Karl Lagerfeld uses formal 18s century details, like fichus and panniers, recreate them in casual 21 century fabrics—tech denims, plastics—dressed up with frothy lace ruffles and cuffs, and dressed down with short shorts and gold platform trainers. At some point, it might look a bit strange, but after a while, you won’t anymore – you got the girlish feeling, the exuberant energy, the smell of hot summer. Lagerfeld said he wanted something floating and frivolous and oh yes, he did achieve that.

Her new 2012 summer collection has gained too much attention already. She said there is an American spin to the look of this line – “I was imagining all those photos of stars walking around pools in Old Hollywood—not swimming, of course, but maybe having a martini,” she says. “I sort of tried to hit the niche I have for my cocktail dresses—the color-blocking, piping contrasts, and the minimal French lace edgings I use, but seen as swimwear. I tested all the shapes myself, as I do with all my fittings; you’ve got to be certain and safe as a woman that they’re right. So even where I’ve used nude colors—which have the illusion of being quite daring—most of the pieces are actually quite covered up.” I am sure the Mad Men loving ladies will dying to wear all these beautiful swimwear.

6th one – no curves
You know what? We really examine our body shape a lot – many ladies complain about that they have too much flesh so need to hide or their body has no curves or lack of femininity when there is no extra flesh. Anyhow, we can always find flaws on our body.
We talked about different body types in the previous posts, this time we will talk about what you can do when you think that you are not curvy enough. Actually, it can be really simple, really can just rely on style or color to solve the problem.
For example – pick a tankini that mixes things up; pick a floral or print for the part that you’d like to look more curvaceous, either top or bottom, plus a solid color for the other piece. These are all helping create the illusion of curves. The blow picture using the drapes to enlarge the bust and the black color is very helpful on shrinking the visual effect of the waist.

5th one – broad thighs
If you have a broad thighs, the problem might be your legs look bigger and shorter. The best way to use swimsuit to help is finding a cut moderately high at the leg. Now low, but high – if that cut is low, it possibly will digs into your thigh and makes it look even bigger. Higher cut will help elongate your legs, adding some inch visually to look slimmer.
Or, the easiest way as we solve the problem as big bottom, you can add a bit more coverage, wear a swim skirt over boy-cut shorts. However, if you have any flesh on your thighs and you are not 15 years old anymore, the boy-shorts wont look good since they will dig right into your thighs, which will make things worse and contrary to what we want to achieve. So a slim skirt, perferably with a nice slit, allowing to show just a hint of thigh from time to time, in this way will make you look thinner & slimmer.

I fall in love with photography sometime in 90′s when I was just getting into my teen years. That took me to bachelor degree in photography and lot good & fun time. One of the iconic publications was Pirelli Calendar. Every year, Pirelli, famous Italiano tyre company, would come up with calendar full of supermodels in swimwear. And all done by top photographers in the World. This Pirelli traddiotna stood for years and still running today.
Somewhere around year 2000 one photographer stood from the pack. It was young Italian whose provocative images apread in fashino publications around the World. Artistic, but with strong and sometime rough note of reality. Dream and reality mixed. Exactly what I always admired in photography. It was Mario Sorrenti. 4th one – Big Bottom
A lot of women complain that they have far too big bottom – oh well, if by what you mean the bottom like Jennifer Lopez, just relax – you are the gold, millions other women want to look like you – Accept it gladly and go with the flow. You can basically wear anything, show off the broad bottom, as long as it’s toned.
However, if you have non-toned bottom and cellulite is an issue, apart from keep exercising (of course this might take a while), in terms of choosing swimsuit — go ahead with a swim skirt or Skirtini- anything dark that isn’t flimsy, something with double weigh lycra will cut down on jiggles successfully.

3rd one – thick waist
If you think your waist might be too thick, the miracle fabrics to contour waistband, shape with comfort, so find miracle suit.

Also don’t forget that color is your friend. In order to ‘narrow’ your waist, look for one piece swimsuit with dark side panles and a lighter color or print in the center. 2nd one – big belly.

I am going to do a series talking about how to choose swimwear according to your bodytype, not because of what celebrities are wearing, not because the trend, just to find out what suit you the best.
OK, first one – small bust.
Actually this is not that huge a problem, given how versatile all the swimwear design these days. If you are a natural slim person, consider wearing two-piece with a slightly padded bra. You know what? Quite a lot of bikini tops are actually push -up bras, so problem solved – you look like you have more than you do.
Also choose halters or tops with shirring and ruffles, which add a little extra dimension to make you look more bustier.

If you are a fan of swimwear, you would have heard the name of Katherine "Kate" Upton. She is an American model with face on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue first in 2011. Then She was named Rookie of the year, Again in 2012. She became the cover model of the magazine, and her steps can't be stopped now.
On April 30, 2012, she performed the "Cat Daddy" in a video directed went viral on Youtube with the purpose to further increase her popularity, grabbing almost 750,000 views in the 24 hours before it was temporarily removed from YouTube for violating the site's rules on sexual content. You can have a look if you want. 5 mins of repeated almost naked dance, a bit too much for me.
But she is a great swimwear model for sure, she has he body and look youthful!

Of course she also makes fashion mistakes, in the recent Met costume Gala, her dress was critized by almost everybody, it didn't highlight who she is, (19 year old hot swimwear model), but fell into the old, cliche holliywood style, however she hasn't got the ability to carry, the fake make up did her more harm than good that's for real.
